What a bitch. Other than Miley Cyrus, I can't think of another story about celebrities using salvia. Plus, people don't use drugs because they see celebrities doing it. Those that use salvia do so because they want to.
And it is their decision to make. The State has no responsibility to help protect the youth. That is the parent/guardian's job. And what about adults? Will salvia be banned for them as well?
Teens face enough pressure already, Shelly. Let's not increase that pressure by moving salvia to the black-market, pushing up its price and increasing the dangers of obtaining this herb.
I have salvia growing in my flower bed in the summer, am I considered a grow-op?
ReplyDeleteThis is an issue that socialists and Tories alike can agree on: government ownership of the individual. Oh, if confronted with the principle they'll squirm and sputter no, no, its all about health and costs to the best Soviet style health care system money can't possibly pay for.
ReplyDeleteI say BS to that. Whether its salvia, tobacco, salt, whatever, the bottom line is the only way the government could lay claim to the right to control what the individual does or does not ingest would be through right of ownership.
