The “Let's Talk TV” Show Trial hosted by the CRTC has ended. Acting as if their authority was relevant and necessary, the CRTC heard from broadcasters, consumers and even Netflix on the future directions the industry should take. CRTC Commissioner Jean-Pierre Blais, who is the new Kein Führer Titel of the organization, hosted the Show Trial. While former Commissioner Timothy Denton took a hands-off approach to the Internet (“When you talk about extending the Broadcasting Act to the Internet, what you’re really doing is a massive extension of the power of the state,”), the new Kein Führer Titel has demanded Netflix hand over private information on customers. The message from Ottawa is loud and clear:
All your private information are belong to us.
